Blake Lively’s Texts to Taylor Swift About Justin Baldoni Unsealed in ‘It Ends With Us’ Legal Case

New details have emerged in the ongoing legal dispute surrounding It Ends With Us, as text messages exchanged between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have been partially unsealed ahead of an upcoming court hearing. The messages, now part of the legal record, reveal private conversations that took place during the film’s production and have added fresh attention to the case involving director and co-star Justin Baldoni.

What the Unsealed Messages Reveal

According to court filings, Blake Lively used informal and critical language when referring to Baldoni in messages sent to Swift. The texts reportedly show Lively expressing frustration over creative disagreements and questioning Baldoni’s role as a writer and director during the production process.

In one exchange, Lively allegedly asked Swift to support changes to a revised script while Swift was on her way to visit her. Baldoni’s legal team claims the singer agreed to help her friend, although Swift is not accused of directly participating in any creative decisions related to the film.

Lively’s Legal Team Responds

Lively’s attorneys argue that the unsealed messages do not reflect the full context of the conversation. In filings submitted on January 20, they pointed to Lively’s testimony, in which she stated that she shared the script with Swift without pressure and made it clear that her friend was under no obligation to read or endorse it.

The legal team maintains that the released texts represent only a portion of the exchange and should not be interpreted as evidence of undue influence.

Taylor Swift Not Named as a Defendant

Despite being referenced multiple times in the case, Taylor Swift is not a party to the lawsuit. Her name has surfaced due to Baldoni’s claims that outside influence played a role in disputes over the film’s creative direction.

Swift has been listed as a potential witness, and Baldoni’s team previously attempted to subpoena her. However, Swift’s representatives strongly rejected any suggestion of her involvement in the film’s production.

Swift’s Camp Pushes Back

Following earlier legal actions, a spokesperson for Swift clarified that the singer had no role in casting, script decisions, editing, or scoring the film. The statement emphasized that Swift’s only connection to It Ends With Us was granting permission for the use of one song, and accused Baldoni’s team of using her name to generate public attention rather than focusing on the legal issues at hand.

Background of the Legal Dispute

The legal battle began in December 2024, when Blake Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denied the claims and countersued for $400 million, though the countersuit was later dismissed.

The case is now moving toward trial, which is scheduled to begin in May 2026.

Why the Case Is Drawing Public Attention

The involvement of high-profile names like Blake Lively and Taylor Swift has made the case a major topic in entertainment news. As more court documents become public, interest continues to grow around the behind-the-scenes tensions during the making of It Ends With Us and how the legal fight will ultimately unfold.
